Considerations (what to look for)

Some considerations when you are planning a trip

  • AALA (Adventurous Activities Licensing Authority) License - a legal requirement if any member of the group is under 18. Reassuring even if group are over 18
  • Insurance
  • Qualified AND suitably experienced instructors, does the same instructor work with a group throughout their event?
  • Quality equipment & transport
  • A wide range of activities offered.
  • Group size (ideally 8-10)
  • Accreditations
  • Risk Assessments & clear operating procedures
  • Size of bedrooms (most of ours are 4 bedded & en suite)
  • Preliminary visits (you are very welcome to come look around & discuss your activities and any aspect of your visit)
  • Taylor made programs (nothing is off the shelf)
  • Site security
  • CRB checks
  • First Aid cover

Adventure Activities Licensing ensures that activity providers follow good safety management practices.

This should allow young people to experience exciting and stimulating activities outdoors without being exposed to avoidable risks. The activities covered are under the headings; Caving, Climbing, Trekking & Watersports. AALA website

Association of Heads of Outdoor Education Centres – Gold standard is a voluntary assessment scheme whereby centres are assessed against high level criteria in all aspects of the work they undertake. AHOEC Gold Standard website

The Learning Outside the Classroom (LOtC) Quality Badge provides a national accreditation combining the essential elements of provision – learning and safety. LOtC website

Adventuremark is a non-statutory safety scheme devised by the Adventure Activity Industry Advisory Committee (AAIAC). This award covers those activities that do not come under Adventure Activity Licensing such as Ropes Courses, Archery & Zip Wires. Adventuremark website

We will ask for a deposit of 30% based on your minimum numbers to secure your booking. The final balance will be due after your visit. Full Terms & Conditions
