Shining Cliff is a small residential centre. Its remote location makes it an ideal venue for youth group residential trips. The nearest parking is 800 metres away, so a visit to Shining Cliff starts with a 10 minute walk down the woodland path. This short walk certainly adds an element of excitement and adventure.
Lindley Educational Trust is committed to working with young people from deprived and vulnerable backgrounds. We recognise that our main centre at Hollowford is not suitable for all groups and with this in mind we offer this remote youth centre that offers something a little different.
The magic of the woodland makes this a special place to bring a group. You can develop your own programme and / or access some of our exciting outdoor activities. A night walk around the woods might be the first time that your young people will have experienced an environment with no streetlights. We are able to climb and abseil on Shining Cliff crag, which is just behind the building.
Our campfire is a great way to end your day, sitting round and reflecting on the day’s activities.
Want to take the adventure a little further………
Your group can learn the skills of cooking on open fires, building shelters and then spend the night out in the woods!
The centre accommodates up to 20 people and assuming you require 1 bedroom each for male and female staff, this leaves 16 beds for young people (two rooms of 6 and one room for 4).
Working in teams to share food preparation and domestic tasks in the well-equipped modern kitchen provides an excellent learning opportunity for young people. Not only does this help them develop life skills but can also be used as a valuable opportunity to learn about and reinforce healthy eating.
The communal space is light, comfortable and adaptable, providing a comfortable dining area and a relaxing lounge.
With over 40 years experience of providing good quality personal development courses we are here to help and advise so please contact us to discuss the type of programme you are looking for and how we can help your young people get the most from their visit. |
