The aim of this session is to look at the benefits of long term engagement with communities as oppose to short courses that have become the norm in the outdoor education sector.

It will be an interactive discussion based workshop looking at potential barriers and how to overcome them, with some examples of good practice. Particularly looking at some of Lindley’s work in Ashton working with a disadvantaged predominantly BME community.

Adnan Zaman and Lindley Educational Trust have been working in Ashton for over 10 years and currently run a 3 evening a week youth provision funded by Children In Need.
