This practical outdoor seminar will explore various medicinal and practical features and uses of primarily trees but also occasional plants growing locally. Participants will obtain ideas on how a basic knowledge of common trees can be used to assist in the general personal and character development of children and young people as well as in supporting the teaching of a variety of academic subjects across a range of age groups from Early Years through to A level.

Possible examples of things covered in the session can include, the use of trees in literacy (song, story telling and poetry), maths (height of trees using trigonometry), chemistry (wood ash or leaves as soap), biology/medicine (medicine to treat cancer from yew). Other examples of subjects and applications  as well as basic bush craft skills will be covered.
