OUTDOOR LEADER TRAINING
Working with Youth of Today
Working with Youth of Today
The Trust runs successful youth and community projects in Manchester and Sheffield. The work is pretty special and reflects the unique relationship between the Hollowford Centre and these inner city projects.
The Trust have been recognised as leaders in the area of Black Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) engagement into the outdoors and as a result work closely with the British Mountaineering Council and are helping the Outward Bound Trust deliver a project on the engagement of young instructors from BAME communities.
The Trust’s youth and community projects were winners of the ‘Work Force Engagement’ category of the Outdoor Learning Awards 2019.
The workshop will be dynamic, using a rich mix of discussions, practical exercises and case studies. Drawing on the Trust’s practical experiences the workshop will focus on two main areas:
- BAME engagement and community cohesion. Tops tips on working with people from different religious and ethnic backgrounds.
- Dealing with challenging behaviour and inspiring you people. We will cover practical tools and techniques to help manage challenging behaviour. It will also look at case studies of projects that have inspired young people and helped them change their behaviours.
